Harry Massey

Founder & Chairman of NES Health, Founder & CEO of Energy4Life

In 2002, Harry founded Exponential Health Innovations, a research and design company in the field of bioenergetics, the study of detecting and correcting energy in living systems. Within this group, Harry serves as chairman of NES Health where he’s invented clinical technologies for practitioners, and CEO of Energy 4 Life where he’s designed wearable technology to restore people’s energy for life. These endeavors grew out of his own research into health as he sought to overcome bedridden chronic fatigue syndrome in his youth.

Harry is the inventor of proprietary IP approved by the FDA including the miHealth device, infoceutials, and the Bioenergetic WellNES System. 

Harry also wrote and directed The Living Matrix: The New Science of Healing (www.thelivingmatrixmovie.com), Choice Point: Align Your Purpose, and Supercharged (www.superchargedmovie.com) to educate and inspire the general public about bioenergetic approaches to health and well-being.

Prior to going into private practice, Dr. Bertram held an appointment as associate clinical professor of anesthesiology and psychiatry and as the director of clinical pain research at the University of California San Diego. He is triple-board certified in Anesthesiology, Pain Management and Addiction Medicine. After finishing medical school in Hamburg, Germany and defending my doctoral thesis about the effects of oxidative stress, he moved to the USA for clinical trainingcompleting anesthesia residency at UCSD and was aferward given the honor to serve as chief resident. He received education in multi-disciplinary pain management, including intensive training in all invasive aspects of alleviating pain, at UC San Francisco, which ranks among the best pain departments in the world.

Dr. Bertram returned to San Diego 2005 as an assistant clinical professor and also enrolled in a masters program for clinical research. There, he joined the VA San Diego Healthcare System and established a pain clinic there serving the Veteran population. These humbling and rewarding years of serving Veterans had a profound impact on his career and research efforts.

In addition to keeping a busy practice, Dr. Bertram conducted many experiments to better understand the effects of stress on pain perception. His areas of expertise include PTSD and fibromyalgia and he received funding and support from sources including the “Foundation for Anesthesia Education and Research”, the ‘Center of Excellence for Stress and Mental Health” and industry leaders.

During his years at UCSD and the VA, Dr. Bertram served as the director for clinical pain research at UCSD, published numerous papers and book chapters and presented work at many national and international conferences as guest lecturer or visiting professor. He is also an associate clinical professor (voluntary) with the University of California Riverside School of Medicine.

Professor and Vice-Chair for Research at University of California, San Diego; Director, UCSD Cardiac/Neuro Protection Laboratories; Research Pharmacologist, VA San Diego Healthcare System

Hemal H. Patel, PhD Dr. Patel was born in 1975 in India. He moved to the United States at the age of 6 and grew up in the Midwest. He has a PhD in Pharmacology & Toxicology from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Following his graduate studies, in 2002 he began a post-doctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the UCSD under the mentorship of Dr. Paul Insel. In 2005, Dr. Patel became a junior faculty member in the Department of Anesthesiology at UCSD. He quickly developed independence and made the unique observation that membrane microdomains (enriched in caveolin) regulate cardiovascular function. His research has expanded to explore this relationship in ischemia-reperfusion injury, heart failure, diabetic cardiomyopathy, cardiac aging, and cancer.

He is currently Full Professor and serves as the Vice Chair for Research in the department. He runs a vibrant research program that includes budding scientists at many levels including high school students, undergraduates, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, Anesthesiology residents, research scientist, and junior faculty members.
